Today, we’re talking about Keppra® (levetiracetam). In my pronunciation episodes, I say a brand drug name and its generic, break both drug names down into syllables, explain which syllable or syllable(s) have the emphasis, reveal the source(s) of my information, and put the written pronunciations of both in the show notes so that you see them and use them right away.
The purpose of these pronunciation episodes is to provide the intended pronunciations of drug names from reliable sources. I want you to feel confident saying drug names and less frustrated learning them.

As pharmacists, pharmacy students, pharmacy technicians, and professors, we’re all just trying to pronounce drug names correctly so we sound confident and communicate effectively. If you crowd-source pronunciations, vet your sources. When you get two or more pronunciations that don’t match, you will end up guessing. Pharmacists like to research what we don’t know, and we like evidence-based answers. Remember to use reliable sources, and get it right!
I’m a thought leader on the topic of drug name pronunciations, and I care about saying drug names correctly.
Thank you, USP Legal Department for permission to use written pronunciations from the USP Dictionary Online in my YouTube videos and podcast show notes.
