Information about the book
As a wife, mother, pharmacist, small business owner, and now author, Dr. Jade L. Ranger understands the demands on women. Over the course of her life and career, she has honed her skill set for maintaining a healthy and somewhat balanced life. In her book, Mustard Seed Mentality, Dr. Ranger, takes a deep dive into the real life paradox of the “Super Woman Syndrome,” while she offers guidance on managing anxiety and coping with everyday stressors. Dr. Ranger also highlights how these types of challenges are amplified for women of color. “Being a woman is no easy feat, tack on the role of motherhood, and we should pretty much add a cape,” Dr. Ranger said. “Whether you are a career woman or stay-at-home mom, we all have something in common.”
Dr. Ranger draws inspiration and solace from her Christian faith, and it is her unwavering faith that is the foundation for her pearls of wisdom. By sharing her personal experiences, Dr. Ranger hopes to encourage women and help them understand that the struggles they face are more common than they realize. “My goal is for women to feel uplifted, heard and seen,” Dr. Ranger said. Mustard Seed Mentality is available for purchase online at Amazon.com and Barnesandnoble.com

Highlights from our conversation
One of Dr. Ranger’s favorite Bible verses is Matthew 17:20. It refers to a mustard seed. Having a small amount of faith [like a mustard seed] can help in a big way. Dr. Ranger’s faith has helped her through many of life’s challenges, including opening an independent, community pharmacy with her husband, Dr. Henry Ranger, who is also a pharmacist.
Jade loves writing, but she also loves to read. Physical books are her preferred media.
Although women were her target audience, men also like her book. Romantic relationship advice, for example, is a topic in her book that both men and women appreciate.
During our interview, Jade read a sample of the book. The topic of the sample was time management. As a Mom with 2 boys still at home, I can relate to the struggles she mentioned. We need to give ourselves grace and be on the lookout for Super Woman syndrome. We can do it all, but not all at the same time. Having faith that we will overcome our struggles helps.
